My Carbon Coach, Shrewsbury, UK
When you walk into My Carbon Coach in Shrewsbury, UK you can feel the purpose behind every product. The shelves are lined with refillables, eco-friendly swaps, and sustainable treats, all carefully chosen by Tim Roberts, the store’s founder and resident sustainability coach.
Recently, Tim added Otherly Oatm*lk Chocolate to the mix, and it’s been an instant hit. We caught up with him to hear how the range is going down with his customers, and why he thinks it’s the perfect fit for stores like his.
Tim, do you remember how you first came across Otherly?
I do, actually! I was just scrolling Instagram one evening, and the packaging stopped me in my tracks. It looked so fun and different, not your typical ‘eco brand’ look at all. I’d been on the lookout for a new chocolate range for the shop, so I did a quick check on Faire, saw they were available there, and placed an order right away. I’ve been reordering ever since.
What made you feel it would work in your shop?
Honestly, it just felt like the right match. My customers love discovering products that do good and look good, and Otherly hits both. It’s vegan, it’s plastic-free, and the story behind it fits our ethos perfectly. Plus, it tastes incredible, which always helps!
How do you display it in-store?
It sits right by the till, the colours and illustrations really draw people in. We’ve found it works brilliantly as an impulse buy; someone comes in for shampoo refills or laundry liquid, and ends up treating themselves to a chocolate bar on the way out. It’s the easiest upsell ever.
Which flavours are flying off the shelves?
The Salted Caramel is always the first to go, no surprises there! But the Birthday Cake one has a bit of a cult following now. People love the name, it makes them smile before they’ve even tried it, and once they do, they’re hooked.
And how do your customers respond to the sustainability side of the brand?
They really appreciate it. We talk a lot about ethical sourcing and packaging in the shop, and Otherly makes that conversation really easy. It’s vegan, B Corp certified, plastic-free, all the things people are looking for, but in a way that’s approachable and joyful rather than preachy.
What would you say to another shop owner who’s thinking about stocking Otherly?
Just go for it. The range looks amazing on-shelf, delivery’s always quick, and it sells itself once people see it. It’s the kind of product that brings a bit of fun and colour to the counter, and in our world, that’s pretty special.
